Circle & Ellipse Tool

Draw perfect circles and smooth ellipses. Hold Shift for a perfect circle, or draw freely for an ellipse.

How to draw a circle or ellipse

Select the Circle/Ellipse tool. The context panel shows Stroke Width and Fill options.

Choose your colours. Set stroke and fill colours from the colour picker.

Set stroke width (0-50 px). Set to 0 for a filled shape with no border.

Click and drag on the canvas to draw your ellipse. The shape expands as you drag.

Hold Shift to draw a perfect circle with equal width and height.

Release to place the shape on the object layer.

Circles and ellipses stay editable on the object layer. Use Select to reposition or resize.

Tips

Draw from centre

Start from the intended centre of the shape for more intuitive placement.

Perspective ellipses

A wide, flat ellipse represents a circle viewed at an angle — great for table tops, wheels, or planet rings.

Overlapping circles

Create flower patterns, bubble clusters, and chain-link effects with overlapping circles in different colours.

Keyboard shortcuts

Shift + drag — Constrain to perfect circle
Esc — Cancel while drawing
Ctrl+Z — Undo last shape
