Colour Selection

Choose the perfect colour for your paintings using the colour picker, swatches, and gradient tool.

Colour tools overview

Colour Picker

Click the large colour swatch in the toolbar to open the full colour picker. Choose any colour from the spectrum, adjust brightness and saturation, or enter a hex code.

Quick Swatches

A row of preset colour swatches gives one-click access to common colours. Click any swatch to set it as your active colour immediately.

Eye Dropper

Use the Eye Dropper tool to sample any colour directly from the canvas or screen. Ideal for matching existing colours in your painting.

Gradient

The Gradient tool lets you apply a two-colour gradient fill to shapes. Set start and end colours, steps, and direction.

Using the colour picker

Click the colour swatch in the toolbar to open the picker.

Drag the spectrum selector to choose a hue (the colour family).

Drag the main palette to adjust saturation (vivid vs muted) and brightness (light vs dark).

Or type a hex code directly into the # field for an exact colour match.

Click OK or tap outside to confirm your selection. The active colour swatch updates.

Stroke vs Fill: Some tools (Rectangle, Circle, Polygon) have separate stroke and fill colours. Make sure you are editing the correct one — the active control is highlighted in the context panel.

Colour tips

Neutral colours first

Start your painting with background and large neutral colours, then layer vivid accent colours on top for a balanced composition.

Hex codes

If you know a specific colour's hex code (e.g. from a brand guide or website), type it directly into the picker for an exact match.

Sample and reuse

Use the Eye Dropper to re-sample colours from earlier in your painting rather than trying to recreate them manually.
