Eye Dropper Tool

Pick any colour from your painting or from anywhere on your screen, and set it as your active drawing colour instantly.

How to use the Eye Dropper

Select the Eye Dropper tool from the toolbar.

Hover over any colour on the canvas. A colour preview appears showing the colour under your pointer.

Click to sample the colour. It is immediately set as your active drawing colour.

Switch back to any drawing tool (Pencil, Brush, etc.) and start painting with the sampled colour.

Sampling modes

Canvas sampling

Click anywhere on the paint canvas to pick the exact pixel colour at that point.

Screen sampling

On supported browsers, you can sample colour from anywhere on your screen — not just the canvas. A permission prompt may appear the first time.

Instant update

The active colour swatch updates immediately when you click, giving instant visual confirmation of the picked colour.

Screen sampling: Sampling from outside the canvas requires browser permission. If prompted, click Allow. The feature is not available in all browsers or contexts.

Tips

Match existing colours

Use the Eye Dropper to re-select a colour you already used elsewhere in your painting, avoiding the need to recreate it manually.

Sample from imported images

After importing a photo with the Import tool, use the Eye Dropper to pick colours directly from the photo for a harmonious colour palette.

Workflow tip

Keep the Eye Dropper active while evaluating colours, then press a drawing tool shortcut to start painting without opening the colour picker.
