Grid Settings

Display a grid overlay to help you draw straight, evenly spaced, and symmetrical artwork.

How to use the Grid

Toggle the grid by clicking the Grid button in the toolbar or pressing G . The grid overlay appears on top of the canvas.

Adjust grid size using the size input in the grid controls panel. Enter a value in pixels (e.g. 20 px = a grid square every 20 pixels).

Enable snap-to-grid by pressing the Snap button ( S ). Objects and shapes will automatically align to the nearest grid point when you draw or move them.

Hide the grid by pressing G again. The grid lines disappear but snap settings remain.

Grid features

Non-destructive overlay

The grid is a visual guide only. It is not painted onto the canvas and does not appear when you save or print.

Snap to grid

When snap is enabled, the start and end points of shapes and lines lock to the nearest grid intersection — ensuring perfect alignment.

Custom size

Set grid spacing from 5 px to 200 px. Use small grids (10 px) for precision work and larger grids (50+ px) for layout planning.

Grid does not print: The grid lines are a screen-only guide. Your saved PNG and print output will not include any grid lines.

Tips

Symmetry

Use a grid with snap enabled to draw symmetrical shapes and patterns. Each side will align precisely to grid points.

Graph paper effect

Draw horizontal and vertical lines every grid unit with the Line tool to create a graph paper or isometric paper background.

Plan before painting

Enable a large grid (50-100 px) to plan the layout of your painting into sections before adding detail.
