Rectangle Tool

Draw rectangles and squares with adjustable stroke and fill. Hold Shift for a perfect square.

How to draw a rectangle

Select the Rectangle tool. The context panel shows Stroke Width, Fill colour, and Stroke colour controls.

Choose your colours. Set stroke and fill colours from the colour picker. Disable fill for an outline-only shape.

Set stroke width (0-50 px). Set to 0 for a border-free filled shape.

Click and drag on the canvas. A live preview rectangle appears as you drag.

Hold Shift while dragging to constrain to a perfect square.

Release to place the rectangle. It is added to the object layer and can be moved or resized with the Select tool.

Rectangle features

Square mode

Hold Shift while drawing to lock width and height equal, producing a perfect square.

Fill and stroke

Choose outline only, filled, or both. Fill supports solid colours and gradients.

Object layer

Rectangles are editable objects. Use Select to move, resize, or delete after placing.

Object layer: Rectangles are stored as objects above the bitmap canvas. They can be moved and resized with the Select tool until you switch to a bitmap painting tool, which flattens everything.

Tips

Perfect squares
