Select Tool

Select areas of your painting to move, copy, delete, or resize. Works with both bitmap canvas areas and object-layer shapes.

How to use the Select tool

Select the Select tool from the toolbar (or press S ).

Click on an object to select it. A dashed border with handles appears around it.

Or drag a selection rectangle on empty canvas space to select multiple objects at once.

Move the selection by dragging from inside the selection box.

Resize by dragging any of the corner or edge handles.

Rotate using the rotation knob that appears above the selection box.

Delete by pressing Delete or Backspace after selecting.

Selection features

Move

Drag from inside the selection to reposition the selected objects freely around the canvas.

Resize

Eight resize handles (corners and edges) let you scale the selection. Hold Shift for proportional resizing.

Rotate

Drag the circular rotation knob above the selection to rotate freely. The selection rotates around its centre.

Copy & Paste

Press Ctrl+C to copy, Ctrl+V to paste. The pasted copy appears with a small offset so you can see both.

Bitmap vs Objects: When no object-layer shapes are present, the Select tool selects a rectangular region of the bitmap canvas. When object-layer shapes exist, clicking selects individual shape objects. Switching to a bitmap drawing tool flattens all objects to the canvas.
